Honors Continue for Modi

STANFORD, Calif. – Akash Modi has been named the College Gymnastics Association and the MPSF Gymnast of the Week as announced by both organizations Tuesday.

The honor is Modi's 15th CGA honor of his career, increasing his lead as the all-time leader in NCAA Division I Gymnast of the Week honors. The Cardinal has also been honored by the MPSF 12 times in his career.

On the week, Modi led the Cardinal to two more wins against No. 8 Air Force and No. 17 Washington. The senior won the floor exercise (14.900), placed second on pommel horse (14.600), third on vault (14.350), and closed with a win on parallel bars (14.950) en route to the top all-around score (85.450). Stanford remains unbeaten this year in team event titles.

Modi has earned 10 individual event victories against NCAA teams this season: all-around (3), parallel bars (3), pommel horse (2) and floor (2).

Stanford and Modi will look to keep the momentum going on Saturday, Feb. 11 when the Cardinall travels to MPSF opponent Cal to face the Bears, Arizona State and Nebraska. Meet time is set for 6:30 p.m. and will be aired on Pac-12 Networks starting at 7:30 p.m. PT.
