STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford sophomore Jordan Ewert has been selected the MPSF/Molten Men's Volleyball Player of the Week, as announced today.
Ewert helped lead Stanford to a pair of five-set comeback wins at home last week. The Cardinal upset No. 4 UCLA before knocking off No. 12 UC Santa Barbara to move to 8-4 overall and 5-2 in the MPSF. The outside hitter averaged 4.80 kills, 1.10 digs and 5.05 points per set while hitting .301 in the two matches.
Against UCLA, Ewert led all players with a then-career-high 22 kills on .439 hitting. He followed up with a 26-kill performance and was one dig shy of a double-double versus the Gauchos. Stanford fell behind 0-2 to UCSB after a heartbreaking 43-41 loss in the second set before rallying back to win in five.
It marks the first career MPSF weekly honor for Ewert, and the first for Stanford this season. The Cardinal, which moved up to No. 6 in this week's AVCA poll, travels to USC on Thursday, Feb. 16 and Cal Baptist on Saturday, Feb. 18.
