NEW ORLEANS – The top-ranked Stanford women's golf team received a 1-under 71 from junior Shannon Aubert on Sunday and sits in seventh place after the opening round of the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate.

Playing at English Turn Golf & Country Club in warm, cloudy conditions, the Cardinal recorded a team score of 5-over 293 on the 6,239-yard layout. Miami leads the 17-team tournament with a score of 1-under 287.

Aubert posted four birdies, with two coming on par-5s. Despite a closing bogey at the par-4 18th hole, she toured the back nine in 1-under 35 and is tied for ninth.

Senior Casey Danielson also carded four birdies to finish at 72 and is tied for 14th. She got hot on the back side with birdies at 10, 11 and 13.

Freshman Albane Valenzuela shot 74 and is tied for 32nd, while fellow frosh Andrea Lee and Ziyi Wang added 76s and share 44th.

Lee, a three-time winner this season and now the No. 1-ranked player in the country by Golfweek, struggled with a 40 on the front nine, but steadied with nine-straight pars on the back side.

Due to the threat of inclement weather on Tuesday, the second round will begin with a shotgun start at 7 a.m. PT on Monday, followed by the third and final round.
