STANFORD, Calif. - No. 41 Stanford dropped a hard-fought 4-3 decision to No. 31 TCU on Saturday afternoon at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.
The Cardinal (8-4) was looking to add another signature win to its resume, following up impressive victories over No. 6 California and No. 8 Texas earlier this week.
Stanford's bid for a homestand sweep got off to a promising start. The Cardinal captured a tight doubles point for a 1-0 lead thanks to a 7-6 (4) triumph from Michael Genender and Sameer Kumar at the No. 2 spot.
David Wilczynski and Brandon Sutter delivered convincing wins at the bottom two spots of the lineup, putting Stanford on the verge of clinching at 3-0.
TCU (7-4) then started its comeback with consecutive victories from Alex Rybakov, Cameron Norrie and Guillermo Nunez.
The Horned Frogs clinched the match when Jerry Lopez edged Jack Barber 7-5, 6-4 at the No. 4 position.
Stanford will be idle for two weeks prior to its next match on March 27 against Illinois at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.
