STANFORD, Calif. - No. 4 Stanford breezed past Arizona 6-1 on Saturday afternoon at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.
Stanford (11-1, 4-0 Pac-12) extended its winning streak to seven and remained unbeaten in eight home matches.
The Cardinal made quick work of the doubles point, taking a 1-0 lead with convincing victories at the top two spots of the lineup.
Emily Arbuthnott increased the lead to 2-0 following a 6-0, 6-0 rout of Maggie Cohen on court five. It was the fourth time this season that Arbuthnott, who has won a team-high 12 consecutive matches, has won a match by a 6-0, 6-0 margin.
Melissa Lord made it 3-0, defeating Camila Wesbrooks 6-0, 6-4 at the No. 3 position. Stanford's highest-ranked player at No. 13 in the nation, Lord has won 18 of her 20 matches this season.
Emma Higuchi then delivered her first career clincher, overwhelming Sophia Thomas 6-2, 6-0 at the No. 6 spot.
The match concluded with Caroline Doyle earning her 100th career victory, outlasting Paris Corley 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (4) on court two.
Arizona (9-6, 1-3 Pac-12) received its only point from Lauren Marker, who downed Taylor Davidson 6-4, 7-5 at the top spot of the lineup.
Head coach Lele Forood, who has guided Stanford to eight NCAA titles, is one victory away from 400 in her career. Forood can achieve the milestone on Sunday, March 26, when Stanford hosts Hawai'i at 2 p.m.
