STANFORD, Calif. --  Freshman golfer Albane Valenzuela will not compete in this week's ANA Inspiration at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California, withdrawing Tuesday from the tournament due to injury.

Valenzuela and freshman teammate Andrea Lee received amateur invitations to play in the LPGA Tour's first major championship of the year.

Stanford is currently on spring break, although the top-ranked Cardinal women's golf team is competing in the Anuenue Spring Break Classic in Kapalua, Hawaii.

Representing Switzerland, Valenzuela tied for 65th at the Rio Olympics last summer to share low amateur honors. She ranks No. 4 in the latest Women's World Amateur Golf Rankings.

Valenzuela has come on strong for Stanford this spring, recording three consecutive top-10 finishes, including a career best tie for fourth last month at the Bruin Wave Invitational.

There is no timetable on her return.

"She is very disappointed about missing the ANA Inspiration but is concentrating on her recovery," said Anne Walker, Margot and Mitch Milias Director of Women's Golf.
