STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford secured top-10 finishes on opposite sides of the country this past weekend, including a second-place finish at the Saint Francis Invitational at the Saint Francis Yacht Club.
The all-sophomore tandem of skipper William Marshall and crew Cassie Obel led the Cardinal at the Saint Francis Invitational, finishing second in the A-division with four wins in nine races. In the B-division, freshman Nestor Cano skippered Stanford to fourth place with sophomore Olivia Gugliemini serving as crew.
The Cardinal finished ninth at the Emily Wick Women's Trophy in New London, Connecticut. Senior captain Maeve White and sophomore All-American Maeve White skippered the Cardinal to eighth place in the A-division, including four top-three finishes in 15 races. Junior Haley Fox, sophomore Meg Gerli and freshman Madeline Bubb served as A-division crews for Stanford. In the B-division, junior skipper Julia Lambert and junior crew Elena VandenBerg guided Stanford to 11th place.
The Cardinal returns to action this upcoming weekend with three more competitions – the Pacific Coast Collegiate Sailing Conference Women's Championship in San Diego, the Navy Spring Trophy in Annapolis, Maryland, and the Thompson Trophy in New London.
