Rebounding At Home

STANFORD, Calif. - No. 10 Stanford notched its ninth shutout of the season, blanking Washington State 4-0 on Friday afternoon at Taube Family Tennis Stadium.

The Cardinal (16-2, 8-0 Pac-12), which suffered only its second loss of the season on Wednesday at No. 17 Pepperdine, rebounded by quickly dispatching the Cougars (9-14, 0-8 Pac-12).

Stanford also remained unbeaten in 10 matches at home and maintained its lead in the conference standings.

After securing the doubles point, Stanford breezed through singles play with three quick victories.

Emma Higuchi extended the lead to 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 6, representing the fourth time this season that the Cardinal freshman has not surrendered a game to her opponent.

Caroline Lampl made it 3-0 with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph over Victoria Matejevic at No. 4. It was Lampl's 50th career victory in 60 matches.

Emily Arbuthnott followed with her team-high sixth clincher of the season, defeating Melisa Ates 6-2, 6-2 on court five.

The weekend wraps up on Saturday at 12 p.m. against No. 32 Washington (15-7, 4-4 Pac-12) as part of the 18th annual ZOOM Marketing Spring Smash. In addition to Senior Day ceremonies honoring Taylor Davidson and Caroline Doyle, the contest will kick off Cardinalpalooza, the annual Stanford Athletics' sports festival featuring free admission to six events over four-hour span.

Stanford's All-American duo of Davidson and Doyle have combined for 74 victories during their careers on The Farm while leading the Cardinal to the 2016 NCAA championship.
