STANFORD, Calif. – Wins across the board propelled Stanford to a 5-0 victory against Oregon on Friday afternoon at the Stanford Beach Volleyball Stadium.
Stanford's number four pair of Catherine Raquel and Shannon Richardson clinched the dual with a 21-17, 21-12 win, making the score 3-0. The Cardinal went ahead courtesy of No. 5 pair Courtney Bowen and Kat Anderson, who won by a score of 21-12, 21-10.
No. 3 pair Morgan Hentz and Caitlin Keefe made the lead 2-0 with a 21-13, 21-14 win, before Raquel and Richardson won their fourth match in a row to clinch the win. No. 1 pair Kathryn Plummer and Jenna Gray lengthened the lead to 4-0 with a 21-19, 21-10 win, then Ivana Vanjak and Payton Chang fought off Stanford's only lost set to win 25-27, 21-9, 15-10.
Stanford returns to action tomorrow at Noon PT when it hosts Boise State, followed by a 3 p.m. dual against Washington. Stanford's matches tomorrow are part of Cardinalpalooza, which includes action from six teams – softball, women's tennis, beach volleyball, football, water polo and baseball. Admission to all events is free with the exception of baseball, and food trucks will be available on campus from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
