Streak Snapped

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – A hat trick by Elizabeth Cusick wouldn't prove to be enough to sustain No. 19 Stanford's six-game winning streak as it fell 15-12 to Yale Saturday night at Reese Stadium in New Haven, Conn.

Yale (7-5) opened the game with a quick start to score three goals before Kelly Myers broke the slide with her 15th goal of the season.

The Bulldogs answered with two more goals, but Stanford (7-3) rallied back with four unanswered by four different Cardinal. In the half Stanford outshot the Bulldogs 18-15 while forcing nine Yale turnovers and picking up 11 ground balls. Ultimately though, Yale won the half heading into the break up 8-6.

The Bulldogs scored to open the second half before Stanford added another three goal streak to tie it 9-9 with 23 minutes remaining. Another trade off of goals kept it close, but a three goal spree by the Bulldogs with less than nine minutes remaining ultimately put it out of Stanford's grasp.

The Cardinal remains on the road next week as it sets to face MPSF foe Colorado. Game time against the Buffs is set for 2 p.m. PT on Friday in Boulder, Colo.
