OJAI, Calif. - No. 17 Stanford's postseason run at the Pac-12 Championships came to an end on Friday afternoon, falling to No. 5 UCLA 4-0 in the semifinals.
The Cardinal (16-8, 4-3 Pac-12), which was eliminated by UCLA in last year's semifinals, managed to pick up a quality win against No. 21 Oregon on Thursday during its tournament run.
"The team performed well this weekend to advance to the semifinals despite not being at our optimum health," stated Taube Director of Men's Tennis Paul Goldstein. "Congratulations to UCLA on being the better team today and advancing to the finals. Our priority now is to take the next two weeks to get ourselves physically healthy and mentally fresh for NCAAs."
The Bruins (19-4, 6-0 Pac-12) swept all three meetings, having already defeated the Cardinal by 4-2 margins in the previous two matches.
After capturing the doubles point, UCLA notched straight-set victories at the middle of the lineup before Maxime Cressy defeated William Genesen 6-0, 6-3 at the No. 6 spot.
Stanford will await its postseason status when NCAA selections are announced on Tuesday, May 2.
