Formico Joins Staff

STANFORD, Calif. – Former UCLA standout Taylor Formico will join the Stanford women's volleyball staff as a volunteer assistant coach, head coach Kevin Hambly announced today.

"We are excited to add Taylor to our staff," said Hambly, who took over the reins of the program on January 30. "Taylor had a successful collegiate career and will bring an energy to the gym every day. We are looking forward to her having a positive impact on our program."

A two-time Pac-12 Libero of the Year, Formico was a two-time All-American for the Bruins, collecting VolleyballMag.com first team honors as a senior (2016) and AVCA third team recognition as a junior (2015). She led the Pac-12 with 5.15 digs per set in 2016, ranking in the top 20 nationally. She upped her average to 6.14 digs per set in the NCAA Tournament and was named to the Minneapolis All-Regional Team. She finished her career with 2,477 digs.

Formico began her collegiate career at UC Santa Barbara, earning AVCA All-America honorable mention honors in 2012. She was the AVCA West Region and Big West Freshman of the Year, while also collecting All-Big West First Team and All-Freshman Team honors. She led the nation with 792 digs (5.87 dps), setting UCSB and Big West single season records.

Formico, a native of Saratoga, California, was a sociology major at UCLA. She attended St. Francis High School in Mountain View, California, and is the cousin of Stanford hall of famer and three-time Olympic gold medalist Kerri Walsh Jennings.
