Stanford's varsity eight won by open water, completing the Lake Carnegie course in 6:13.8 to Princeton's time of 6:22.6. Stanford and Princeton also fielded a pair of varsity fours in the other race. The Cardinal's two entries placed first and second, completing the course in 7:17.2 and 7:26.4. Princeton's two entries recorded times of 7:28.1 and 7:41.5.

Stanford has familiarity with the Lake Natoma course, having competed in the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association (WIRA) Championships April 29-30. The Cardinal lightweight varsity eight raced in the openweight competition at the WIRA Championships, winning the grand final by open water over San Diego State and Loyola Marymount with a time of 6:18.404.

Following the Pacific Coast Rowing Championships, Stanford will race in the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Championships, also be held at the Lake Natoma course. The event is set to run from June 2-4, with seeding for the championship regatta announced next week. Stanford is the two-time defending IRA Champion.
