CHARLESTON, S.C. – Stanford's sailing team collected another top-10 finish at the Intercollegiate Sailing Association National Championships on Sunday with a seventh-place finish in the Laserperformance Team Race Championships at the J. Stewart Walker Sailing Center.
It was the tenth top-ten finish in a row for Stanford's team racing unit, which advanced to the semifinal round after finishing sixth with a 9-6 record in the preliminary round. Stanford compiled a 2-5 record in the round-robin semifinal of eight teams, finishing with an 11-11 overall record. Host Charleston won the team race championship with a 21-4 overall record, beating out Yale (19-6).
All four classes were represented in the competition, led by senior skipper Reinier Eenkema van Dijk and senior crew J.P. Cannistraro. Stanford's other skippers included sophomore William Marshall, junior All-American Will La Dow and freshman Jacob Rosenberg.
Joining Cannistraro as crews were freshman Taylor Kirkpatrick, junior Elena VandenBerg, sophomore Cassie Obel, sophomore All-American Kathryn Booker and junior Kennedy Placek.
The Cardinal returns to action at the ICSA National Championships on Tuesday with the Gill Coed National Championship. Live results will be available at GoStanford.com, and live streaming of the finals on Thursday and Friday will also be available.
