Cranny an Academic All-American

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford junior Elise Cranny was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America second team for track and field and cross country.

It is Cranny's second Academic All-America honor, following a third-team selection last year. She carries a 3.91 cumulative GPA as a human biology major, is an eight-time All-America, the Stanford record holder in the 1,500 meters, and owns a Pac-12 title.

She anchored the Stanford distance medley relay team to second at the NCAA Indoor Championships, earned two indoor All-America honors and was a member of Stanford's cross country team that placed fifth at the NCAA Championships. Her 4:11.46 in the 1,500 makes her the 25th–fastest American this year and she ranked No. 8 among collegians.

The honor gives Stanford cross country and track and field its 29th Academic All-America honor, earned by 24 individuals. She and Kathy Kroeger (2012-13) are the only Stanford women to earn the honor twice.
