STANFORD, Calif. - Junior reliever Colton Hock earned some more All-America recognition as a second team honoree from Baseball America on Thursday.
Hock was also a second team All-America selection by Collegiate Baseball News, an All-Pac-12 honoree and is one of five finalists for the Stopper of the Year award from the National College Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).
Hock set the school record with 16 saves this season. He led the nation in saves during the regular season, and broke the program record of 13, originally set in 1987 by Steve Chitren and matched in 2000 by Jeff Bruksch.
A native of Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, Hock led the Cardinal with a 2.08 ERA and .211 opposing batting average. He was second on the team with 27 appearances, and third on the team in wins with a 6-1 mark. Excluding one outing this year, he had a 0.95 ERA in 26 appearances.
Hock helped lead Stanford (42-16) to its best record in 13 years, and its first national seed since 2004. The Cardinal finished second in the Pac-12 with a 21-9 record -- Stanford's best conference finish since 2008 and the most conference wins since 1998.
