NANJING, China – Sophomore Kathryn Plummer earned a bronze medal at the FIVB U-21 World Championships last week.
Plummer teamed up with Milica Mirkovic of California to finish the tournament with a 6-1 record. After dropping a 21-19, 21-16 decision to eventual champions Duda and Ana Patricia of Brazil in the semifinals on Saturday, the duo responded with a dominant 21-7, 21-19 triumph in the third-place match on Sunday against Gaia Traballi and Ester Maestroni (Italy).
Plummer and Mirkovic earned a berth into the round of 16 after topping Group E with a 3-0 record. The duo prevailed 21-13, 21-12 in the elimination match, setting up an all-Pac-12 quarterfinal against Megan and Nicole McNamara (UCLA) of Canada – Plummer and Mirkovic won by a score of 21-18, 21-19.
