Freshman to Junior Worlds

STANFORD, Calif. – Incoming freshman Sarah Klass was named to the United States roster for the FINA Junior World Championship in Volos, Greece in early September.

The United States is in Group D alongside Croatia, New Zealand and Spain and will play those countries in that order from September 3-5.

Klass, a driver from San Ramon Valley High School and the younger sister of rising Stanford junior Kat Klass, was a 2015 Cal Hi Sports Bay Area NCS Female Scholar-Athlete and is a four-time NISCA/Speedo Water Polo All-American.

A USA Water Polo veteran, Klass was captain of the USA Women's Cadet National Team that won gold at the 2015 UANA Youth Pan American Championship in Kingston, Jamaica last September. She scored 21 goals and had a pair of five-score outings against Puerto Rico and Mexico in pool play.

Klass was also member of the U.S. squad which placed fifth at the FINA Youth World Championships in New Zealand in December, scoring nine goals in seven games.

She made her debut for the senior women's national team at the FINA Intercontinental Tournament in Davis, Calif. in early May and scored in a 10-6 win over Japan.

Stanford All-Americans Jamie Neushul and Jordan Raney, both now playing with the USA Senior Women's National Team at the FINA World Championships in Hungary, helped the U.S. to a title at the last FINA Junior World Championships in 2015.
