Bubic Wins Cape Cod Award

STANFORD, Calif. - Sophomore left-hander Kris Bubic was named the Cape Cod Baseball League Pitcher of the Year, widely known as the nation's premier collegiate summer league. Bubic was also named a Perfect Game/Rawlings Summer Collegiate Baseball All-American.
 
Bubic stared for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox. He was the Eastern Division's starting pitcher in the 2017 Cape League All-Star Game in July and fired a 1-2-3 bottom of the first inning. For the summer, Bubic went 4-1 with a 1.65 ERA while striking out 41 in 32.2 innings in the regular CCBL season. Opponents hit just .198 off Bubic.

For the Cardinal last season, Bubic was the team's Friday night starter and finished sixth in the Pac-12 in ERA (2.79) and strikeouts (96). A native of San Jose, Calif., and honorable mention Academic All-Pac-12 selection, Bubic was second on teh team with seven wins and 90.1 innings pitched. He capped the season with a career-high 8.0 innings and 11 strikeouts in a Regional win over Sacramento State on June 1.
