MILWAUKEE, Wisc. – Catarina Macario scored twice and Lauren Rood earned a shutout in her first career start to lead No. 2 Stanford to a 5-0 win over Wisconsin on Sunday at Valley Fields.
The Cardinal (2-0) continued its flying start to the season after a 4-0 win over Marquette on Friday night. Stanford held advantages in shots (17-1), shots on goal (8-1) and corners (5-4) over the Badgers (1-1), which held the Cardinal scoreless for most of the first half.
Macario, who opened her Cardinal account with a long strike from outside the box on Friday, picked up where she left off with two goals on Sunday. She made it 3-0 in the 56th minute with assists credited to Michelle Xiao and Jordan DiBiasi.
Xiao played a far-post ball to DiBiasi, who calmly put it on a plate for Macario to tap in. The freshman doubled her tally 10 minutes later thanks to hard work in midfield by Jaye Boissiere. Boissiere motored forward after winning the ball back inside her own half, slipping it through to Macario who slotted it around the keeper from 15 yards.

Making her first career appearance for Stanford, Rood was seldom tested in goal but came off her line several times to thwart Badger moves forward.
Stanford was held scoreless for the first 42 minutes before Sam Hiatt headed home an Andi Sullivan corner to make it 1-0 before the half. The Cardinal doubled its lead in the 50th minute when Kyra Carusa scored a penalty kick.
Forward Civana Kuhlmann made it 5-0 in the 85th minute. Kuhlmann forced a save off the line before gathering the rebound and sliding home her first collegiate goal.
