Schedule Announced

STANFORD, Calif. – The Stanford wrestling program and 10th-year head coach Jason Borrelli have announced its schedule for the upcoming 2017-18 season. The Pac-12 Network will announce its broadcast selections at a later date and the wrestling schedule will be finalized at that time.

Stanford will wrestle in 13 duals and compete in some of the nation's most competitive collegiate tournaments this year.

"This year's schedule is very exciting," stated Borrelli. "We will open and close the regular season against two of the nation's top programs in Virginia Tech and Nebraska. The Virginia Tech match will give us a great early season gauge of our team and the Nebraska match will ensure that we are ready to compete at our very best entering the postseason."

The Cardinal will have six home duals, highlighted by an outdoor clash with Maryland on Nov. 18 during Fan Fest of the Stanford vs. California football game and a February 16 matchup against Big Ten powerhouse Nebraska.

"Additionally, we are thrilled to welcome Maryland to The Farm as a part of Big Game weekend," Borrelli added. "This year's 'Takedowns and Touchdowns' event will be a special one, as the Terrapins are coached by former Stanford head coach, Kerry McCoy. Kerry is a mentor and good friend of mine, and we are thrilled to have his team out to compete under the California sunshine."

The outdoor dual against Maryland will begin two hours prior to the football game, which time is still to be determined.

Stanford will wrestle in the Southeast Open (Nov. 5), the Roadrunner Open (Nov. 19), the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invite (Dec. 1-2), the Reno Tournament of Champions (Dec. 17) and the Southern Scuffle (Jan. 1-2).

After hosting Penn on Jan. 7, the Cardinal will wrestle at both Brown (Providence, R.I.) and Harvard (Cambridge, Mass.) on the same day (Jan. 13).

Oregon State will host the Pac-12 Championships on February 25. The NCAA Championships will be held March 15-17 in Cleveland, Ohio.

"All-in-all, our schedule provides a great balance of tournaments and dual meets. I am extremely excited for the upcoming season and home many fans will make it out to cheer on the Cardinal," said Borrelli.

Stanford returns two All-Americans to its roster, including Paul Fox (7th, 2017) and Connor Schram (8th, 2016), and five NCAA qualifiers overall. Last season, the Cardinal sent a program-best nine wrestlers to the NCAA Championships in St. Louis, Missouri.

All dates and times are still subject to change. All times listed are Pacific Time.
