STANFORD, Calif. – Four different goal scorers and Lauren Rood's shutout led No. 5 Stanford to a 4-0 win over No. 10 Georgetown on Friday at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium.

The Cardinal (3-1-0) netted three times in a seven-minute span in the second half to put the game out of reach. The Hoyas (3-2-0) responded to Civana Kuhlmann's sixth-minute opener with pressure of their own, but Rood and Stanford's defense held firm to enter the break with the lead.

Redshirt sophomore Jaye Boissiere made it 2-0 in the 72nd minute, gathering a deflection in the box and coolly slotting into the far corner. Five minutes later, Catarina Macario put the Cardinal ahead, 3-0. She picked up the rebound from Andi Sullivan's long-range effort and tapped in her fifth goal in four appearances.

Sullivan, who came on at halftime, played the entire second period and controlled play from the base of the midfield. It was the second assist of the season for Sullivan, a MAC Hermann Trophy watch list selection.

Macario notched her first career assist on Stanford's fourth goal, courtesy of Kyra Carusa. The freshman dribbled across the top of the area, finding Carusa at the back post. Carusa beat her marker and smashed it into the side netting, making it 4-0 in the 79th minute.

Carusa also earned an assist on Stanford's opening goal. The redshirt junior played a reverse ball to Kuhlmann, who held off her marker and finished inside the far post.

Stanford outshot Georgetown 21-8, including a 13-1 advantage in the second half. Rood finished with two saves to earn her second clean sheet in as many career starts.

The Cardinal returns to action at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium on Sunday when it hosts Navy at 1 p.m. PT. Live streaming and stats will be available at GoStanford.com.Cardinal Notes
