SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – The Stanford cross country teams compete in what essentially is their season-opener when they run at Friday's Bill Dellinger Invitational on this year's Pac-12 championship course at Springfield Golf Club near University of Oregon.
The Cardinal men are No. 2 nationally and the women are No. 5, matching their finishes at last year's NCAA Championships. Though the team performed at the USD Invitational in San Diego on Sept. 16, only the minimum of five individuals ran for Stanford in what was treated as a tempo run.
The Dellinger meet will feature a greater Stanford representation, but not quite the full squads. Chris Miltenberg, Stanford's Franklin P. Johnson Director of Track and Field, is emphasizing a young team that will gain experience.
