STANFORD, Calif. – No. 5 Stanford erupted for five second-half goals to beat Navy 7-0 on Sunday at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium.

The Cardinal (4-1-0) was rampant from start to finish, outshooting the Mids (4-3-0) 35-1 with a 12-1 advantage in corner kicks. It was the most shots in a game since Stanford made 48 attempts in a 7-0 win over Oregon State in 2014.

Kyra Carusa led Stanford with two goals, giving her six on the season, a new career high. Freshman Catarina Macario assisted Carusa's first goal, adding her sixth goal of the season as well. After striking the cross bar three times in the early stages of the second half, senior Andi Sullivan scored her first of the year from 30 yards out in the 82nd minute.  

Redshirt junior goalkeeper Alison Jahansouz made one save for her second shutout of the season, with redshirt sophomore Jaye Boissiere, freshman Civana Kuhlmann and redshirt junior Mariah Lee accounting for the rest of Stanford's goals.

The Cardinal got off to a fast start with Kuhlmann's opener in the seventh minute. The freshman ran at Navy's defense, unloading from 20 yards past the keeper to make it 1-0. Stanford doubled its lead in the 27th minute through Carusa. Macario drove a long ball to the foot of Carusa, who dribbled away from two defenders and finished inside the far post.

Carusa got her second brace of the season in the 53rd minute. Freshman Kiki Pickett made an attacking run to the end line before teeing up Carusa for a first-time finish into the far corner.

Boissiere made it 4-0 in the 69th minute for her second goal in as many games. She picked the ball up near the halfway line, dribbling past multiple defenders before unleashing a smart finish inside the far post from 20 yards.

Macario's sixth goal of the season made it 5-0, and Mariah Lee finished in the 80th minute to make it 6-0. Stanford saved the best for last, with Sullivan putting the finishing touches on an all-around dominant display. Stanford's senior captain fed Belle Briede on the edge of the area, getting it back and volleying home a dipping shot from long distance.

Cardinal Notes

  • Briede's assist on Sullivan's goal was the first of her career.
  • Averie Collins picked up her first assist of the season on Lee's goal – Collins headed Sullivan's delivery into the path of Lee, who tapped in from close range.
  • Boissiere has a goal or an assist in each of Stanford's five contests.
  • Macario's 14 points lead the team – she picked up her second career assist on Carusa's first goal of the day.
  • Freshman Jojo Harber made her first collegiate start at left back.
