STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford libero Morgan Hentz has been selected the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week, announced today by the conference.
Hentz, a sophomore from Lakeside Park, Kentucky, averaged 4.50 digs per set in wins over No. 14 Washington and Washington State last week. Her efforts helped the Cardinal (17-2) remain perfect atop the Pac-12 standings at 10-0.
Hentz collected 19 digs and had five assists against the Huskies on Thursday. She followed up with 17 digs and two aces in a sweep over the Cougars on Saturday. For the weekend, Stanford limited its opponents to a combined .191 attack percentage.
Hentz becomes the first Cardinal player to be recognized by the conference this season. It is also marks the first weekly recognition of Hentz's career. Stanford now has 101 player of the week honors all-time.
The Cardinal begins the second half of Pac-12 play this week at Arizona State on Friday and Arizona on Sunday. Both matches will be televised by Pac-12 Networks.
