STANFORD, Calif. – No. 2 Stanford earned the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2016-17 academic year, as announced Thursday by the organization.
A total of 813 collegiate teams (282 men, 531 women) earned the recognition with a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher. Stanford was one of 195 schools to have both its men's and women's team honored.
Stanford posted a cumulative 3.42 GPA, led by Pac-12 All-Academic first teamer Michelle Xiao. Maddie Bauer, Kyra Carusa, Averie Collins, Alana Cook, Jordan DiBiasi, Tegan McGrady, Andi Sullivan, Megan Turner and Ryan Walker-Hartshorn were also honorable mentions for the 2016-17 season.
The Cardinal heads to Boulder, Colorado, on Sunday for a matchup at Colorado. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. PT, and the game will broadcast live on Pac-12 Networks.
