SALT LAKE CITY – No. 2 Stanford extended its winning streak to nine games with a 3-0 win over Utah on Thursday at Ute Soccer Field.

Jordan DiBiasi, Michelle Xiao and Kyra Carusa scored for the Cardinal (11-1-0 overall, 4-0-0 Pac-12), which earned its ninth shutout of the season. Stanford outshot the Utes (5-5-2, 0-3-1) 18-2, hardly surrendering any scoring opportunities in front of Lauren Rood's goal – for Rood, it was her fifth shutout of the season in six starts.

After hitting the post in the 23rd minute with a driven effort from the top of the box, DiBiasi opened the scoring in the 27th minute. Tierna Davidson switched the field to Tegan McGrady, who picked out DiBiasi's run into the box with a perfect cross. DiBiasi's powerful header left the keeper no chance, and it was her third goal in as many games.

Stanford started the second half brightly, with two chances by Catarina Macario to make it 2-0. The Cardinal doubled its lead on 53 minutes through Xiao. Xiao picked up the ball at the halfway line, beat several defenders and thumped a shot inside the far post for her third strike in two games.

Four minutes later, Carusa put the game to bed with a calm finish in the box after Andi Sullivan's long attempt deflected off a Utah boot. It was Carusa's ninth goal of the season, tying her with Macario for the team lead.

Macario led the Cardinal with five shots, including three on goal, and Xiao, DiBiasi and Sullivan each attempted two.

Stanford returns to action on Sunday when it faces Pac-12 foe Colorado at 11 a.m. PT in Boulder, Colorado. The match will broadcast live on Pac-12 Networks, and live statistics will be available at GoStanford.com.
