STANFORD, Calif. - Senior Jesse Burkett, sophomore Richard McNitzky, senior Harrison Phillips and junior Casey Toohill were named academic all-district first team by the College Sports Information Directors of America on Thursday.
The anchor of the Stanford defense, Phillips leads the Cardinal in tackles and is on pace to graduate early in December. The defensive lineman is a double major and holds a 3.35 grade-point average in science, technology and society, and sociology.
Burkett is Stanford's starting center and holds a 3.50 GPA as a double major in Japanese and symbolic systems.
McNitzky has served as the Cardinal long snapper for the last two seasons and has maintained a 3.88 GPA.
Toohill has 17 tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss and one sack this season. The outside linebacker maintains a 3.67 GPA as a political science major.
Academic all-district first team honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot, with first and second-team Academic All-America honorees to be announced in December.
