STANFORD, Calif. – Sophomore Andrea Lee of Hermosa Beach, California, has accepted an invitation from the USGA's International Team Selection Committee to participate in a practice session in advance of the 2018 Curtis Cup Match, it was announced Friday.
Currently No. 1 in the country in the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings and on the ANNIKA Award Watch List, Lee will join 11 other prospective team members Dec. 17-18 at Shoal Creek in Alabama, site of the 2018 U.S. Women's Open. The 40th Curtis Cup Match against Great Britain & Ireland will be contested June 8-10, 2018, at Quaker Ridge Golf Club in Scarsdale, New York.
"This is a great honor and we're really excited for Andrea," said Anne Walker, the Margot and Mitch Milias Director of Women's Golf.
Lee previously represented the U.S. in the 2016 Curtis Cup in Dublin, Ireland, the 2016 U.S. World Amateur Team Championships in Rivera Maya, Mexico, and the 2017 World University Games in Taipei, Taiwan.
Other invitees to Shoal Creek include Mariel Galdiano of Pearl City, Hawaii, Kristen Gillman of Austin, Texas, Rachel Heck of Memphis, Tennessee, Cheyenne Knight of Aledo, Texas, Jennifer Kupcho of Westminster, Colorado, Lucy Li of Redwood Shores, California, Haley Moore of Escondido, California, Robynn Ree of Redondo Beach, California, Sophia Schubert of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Lauren Stephenson of Lexington, South Carolina, and Lilia Vu of Fountain Valley, California.
The U.S. and GB&I teams will be comprised of eight players.
The American side holds a 28-8-3 overall advantage.
