STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford outside hitter Kathryn Plummer and middle blocker Audriana Fitzmorris have been selected the Pac-12 Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, announced today by the conference.
Plummer, a sophomore from Aliso Viejo, California, averaged 4.88 kills and 5.56 points per set with a .365 attack percentage as Stanford swept No. 14 USC and posted a come-from-behind five-set win over No. 18 UCLA last week. Fitzmorris registered 2.25 blocks per set in the two victories.
Plummer had a match-best 11 kills with just one error to hit .500 against the Trojans. She followed up with a career-high 28 kills, including one on match-point to seal the win versus the Bruins.
Fitzmorris, a sophomore out of Overland Park, Kansas, racked up 18 blocks in the two matches. She posted 10 blocks (one shy of her career-high) in just three sets versus the Trojans. Stanford tallied 15.0 blocks in the match and held USC to its lowest hitting percentage of the season (.023). Fitzmorris then had a match-best eight blocks against UCLA the following night.
The Cardinal has now won five weekly awards from the conference this season. It is the third weekly honor of Plummer's career and the second time she has won offensive player of the week this season. Fitzmorris collects her third career recognition and the first in 2017. Stanford now has 105 player of the week honors all-time.
The Cardinal plays host to No. 17 Utah on Wednesday at 6 p.m. for its final regular season home match at Maples Pavilion.
