STANFORD, Calif. – Every eligible member of Stanford's NCAA championship lineups received Pac-12 All-Academic honors in cross country.
The Cardinal men's and women's teams each placed fourth at the NCAA Championships on Saturday, making Stanford the only school with twin podium finishes. With six of its seven runners on each team named to the all-academic team, Stanford proved it is fast and smart. The two not named all-academic were freshman and, thus, ineligible for the honor.
Tai Dinger led a group of 19 Stanford honorees by being the only one named to the first team. Those receiving second-team honors were Steve Fahy, Jack Keelan, and Alek Parsons. Fiona O'Keeffe was named to the women's second-team.
Including honorable mention selections, all five of this year's All-America selections – three for the men and two for the women -- were on the Pac-12 All-Academic list. Among those was Grant Fisher, who was fifth in the men's race for the second consecutive year.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or older, must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average, and compete in at least half the team's races.
This is the third Pac-12 All-Academic cross-country honor for Fahy, Keelan, Cranny, and Fraser.
