STANFORD, Calif. – Corey Baird has been named Pac-12 Player of the Week for games from Oct. 30 – Nov. 5.
The honor is the fourth of Baird's career, his first of the season and Stanford's 30th all-time player of the week selection.
Baird accounted for a third of the Cardinal's goals in its recent wins against UCLA and San Diego State. The senior put a bow on Thursday's 5-1 victory over the Bruins with an 89th-minute goal to help Stanford secure its fourth consecutive conference title. Less than a minute before his own score, Baird assisted on Logan Panchot's 88th-minute strike.
On Sunday against San Diego State, Baird collected his third career brace with a goal in each half of the Cardinal's 4-0 win. Stanford, the only school in the country to score at least 40 and concede fewer than 10, has scored a school-record 25 times in Pac-12 play, including 12 goals in the last three games. The Cardinal is fifth in the nation in scoring offense, averaging 2.35 goals per game.
Baird's 28 career assists are more than all but two players in program history and are third among active NCAA players.
Stanford closes out its regular season at home on Thursday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. when it hosts Cal for a match broadcast on the Pac-12 Networks.
