STANFORD, Calif. - Junior human biology major Bryce Love was named a first-team All-America running back by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) on Monday.
Love was joined on the All-America team by junior defensive back Justin Reid (second team) and senior defensive lineman Harrison Phillips (second team).
Love, a junior human biology major, paced Power 5 running backs in rushing yards, rushing yards/game, yards/carry and runs of 20, 30, 40 and 50 yards. His 12 runs of 50 or more yards this year is an FBS record, and his 11 100-yard rushing performances leads the nation and ties a school record.
Phillips, who also was a finalist for the Lott IMPACT Trophy, led all defensive linemen with 100 tackles. The senior is set to graduate two quarters early as a double major in science, technology and society, and sociology.
Reid ranked first in the Pac-12 and eighth nationally with five interceptions. He averaged 7.5 tackles/game while playing every position in the secondary.
The trio was also named All-America by the Associated Press on Monday. Love was a first-team running back, with Reid earning second-team honors at safety. Phillips was a third-team choice at defensive tackle.
The Cardinal (9-4) won the Pac-12 North Division and will face TCU (10-3) in the Valero Alamo Bowl on Dec. 28 in San Antonio, Texas. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. (PT), and ESPN will broadcast the game nationally.
