STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford outside hitter Kathryn Plummer has been named the TeamSnap/AVCA Division I Player of the Year, the organization announced Friday.

The sophomore becomes the first player in AVCA Division I history to earn Player of the Year honors after being named the National Freshman of the Year the previous season. She is the first Cardinal player to bring home the honor since 2007 (Foluke Akinradewo) and the ninth overall.

A native of Aliso Viejo, California, Plummer led the Pac-12 and ranked in the top-10 in the nation in kills (4.66) and points per set (5.39). She was also sixth in the conference with 0.34 aces per set and 10th with a .319 hitting percentage. She paced the team with eight double-doubles on the year. She has registered 20 or more kills in 11 matches in 2017, including a career-best 28 in a five-set win over UCLA, and hit .400 or better in 15 matches. 

Plummer is 14 kills away from 1,000 for her career. Her 555 kills in 2017 were the seventh-most in a single season in school history. She hit .357 in the NCAA Tournament, averaging 4.44 kills and 5.14 points per set.

Plummer also earned ESPNw Player of the Year, AVCA Pacific North Region Player of the Year and Pac-12 Player of the Year in 2017.
