Exhibition Victory

STANFORD, Calif. – Freshman Jaylen Jasper recorded 15 kills to lead the Cardinal in Stanford's 3-1 exhibition win over the University  of Calgary, Saturday, at Burnham Pavilion.
 
Stanford hit .330 as a team and tallied 12 service aces and five blocks. Calgary posted a .224 team hitting percentage and finished with 7.5 blocks.
 
Jasper led all players with 15 kills and six service aces, including four consecutive in the open set. Redshirt senior middle blocker Kevin Rakestraw added nine kills on .467 hitting, while Eric Beatty had seven kills and three digs.
 
Junior setter Russell Dervay dished out 39 assists and was 4-0-4 (1.000) offensively. He also tallied three service aces. Senior All-American libero Evan Enriques had a team-high four digs.
 
Junior outside hitter Jordan Ewert had four kills on .667 hitting in just one set played. Freshman middle blocker Kyler Presho also finished with four kills and a .667 attack percentage in two sets played. Freshman outside hitter Leo Henken chipped in with five kills on a .500 clip, appearing in two sets.
 
Alex Bader led Calgary with 10 kills on .389 hitting. Setter Blain Cranston had 16 assists, four kills and nine digs.
 
Stanford and Calgary will meet again on Tuesday for another exhibition match. First serve is slated for 7 p.m. at Burnham Pavilion. Admission is free.
