Stanford Tops Brown

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Winning six of the 10 bouts, Stanford defeated Brown, 18-13, Saturday at the Pizzitola Sports Center.

The dual began at 174 pounds where redshirt senior Keaton Subjeck, who is ranked 10th nationally, earned a 10-4 decision over Brown's AJ Pedro. After no score in the opening period, Subjeck recorded two takedowns in the second and led 4-3 going into the third period. After registering an escape, Subjeck scored two more takedowns and accumulated 1:44 of riding time for his 19th win of the season. He moves to 6-0 in duals.

True freshman Judah Duhm gave Stanford (4-2) a 6-0 lead in the dual with a 6-4 decision over Nino Bastianelli at 184 pounds. Duhm tallied three takedowns in the first two periods to earn his first collegiate dual win. He is now 9-4 on the year.

Brown got on the scoreboard at 197 pounds as Tucker Ziegler edged Austin Flores, 7-6. Wrestling up a weight class, Flores held a 4-3 advantage going into the final frame. After Ziegler escaped, Flores earned a takedown for a 6-4 lead, but Ziegler escaped again and scored the winning takedown with less than 15 seconds remaining in the match.

Seventh-ranked Nathan Butler made it 9-3 Stanford with a 6-1 decision over Brown's Ian Butterbrodt at heavyweight. Butler quickly scored his first takedown in the opening period and rode Butterbrodt for the remainder of the period. He notched an escape in the second before recording a final takedown in the third. He finished with 4:37 in riding time to improve to 18-5 on the year and 4-1 in duals.

At 125 pounds, sophomore Gabriel Townsell turned in an 8-3 decision against Trey Keeley. Up 4-2 after two, Townsell earned an escape to start the third. He scored another takedown in the period and totaled 1:32 of riding time for the win. Townsell is now 14-9 on the year and 5-1 in duals.

After true freshman Anthony Le was shut out 6-0 at 133 pounds, redshirt junior Isaiah Locsin made it 15-6 Stanford with a 9-4 decision over Jimmy Pawelski at 141 pounds. Pawelski, the younger brother of former Cardinal Tommy Pawelski, jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the first period and chose down to start the second. Late in the second period Locsin turned him to score four near fall points and take a 5-4 lead. Locsin recorded an escape and a takedown in the third and finished with 1:55 of riding time. Locsin is now 12-7 overall and 2-2 in duals this season.

Brown cut the Stanford lead to 15-9 as Zach Krause posted a 13-7 decision over redshirt freshman Jake Barry at 149 pounds. Barry drops to 0-3 in duals this season.

No. 19 Paul Fox sealed the dual win for Stanford with a 2-1 decision against Justin Staudenmayer at 157 pounds. Fox's first period takedown was the difference as he improved to 14-4 overall and 3-0 in duals.
