SARATGOA, Calif. – Katie Dudley and Makenzie Fischer had hat tricks and No. 1 Stanford opened its 2018 season with a 15-3 win over UC Davis at the LouStrong Memorial on Saturday.

The Cardinal, which moved to 22-0 all-time in season openers with its win over the Aggies, scored three fourth-quarter goals to tie the China, 5-5, in an exhibition later in the day. The two teams decided not to play overtime.

Stanford jumped out with three goals in the first eight minutes against UC Davis. Kat Klass (6:59), Jordan Raney (4:17) and Dudley (0:52) scored in the opening period and Mackenize Wiley pushed the lead to 4-0 when she rattled the cage on the power play just under two minutes into the second.

Makenzie would score three times in the third and Aria tallied her first collegiate goal at 6:32 and Stanford had a12-3 advantage heading into the fourth.

Hannah Shabb (5:08), Mackenzie Wiley (4:33) and Bella Baldridge (3:12) provided the offense for Stanford in the fourth, which moved to 40-0 all-time against UC Davis with the win.

Julia Hermann played the first three quarters in the cage and made three saves. Emalia Eichelberger started the fourth and made one stop before giving way to Katrina Sturm, who played the game's final 55 seconds.

Stanford is at the Cal Cup in Berkeley next weekend with countable games against UC Irvine, Fresno State and San Jose State and another exhibition with the Chinese National Team.
