STANFORD, Calif. – Two-time National Goalie of the Year Caylee Waters will join the Stanford women's lacrosse coaching staff as a volunteer assistant, as announced by head coach Amy Booker on Monday.

"We are so pleased to have Caylee join the staff," Bokker said. "She is extremely passionate about the sport and will bring a lot of energy to the program. I was her coach at the national level and it was evident how much she enjoyed playing and learning, and I cannot wait for her to impart that enthusiasm onto our players."

"I am thrilled by this opportunity to continue my passion for lacrosse," Waters said. "Especially at Stanford where the coaches and student-athletes never settle, there's constant engagement and they push themselves both in the classroom and on the field. I look forward to sharing my experience and knowledge with a talented group of coaches and athletes."

Waters is a 2017 graduate of the University of North Carolina, where she helped the Tar Heels to the 2017 National Championship and back-to-back ACC titles in 2016-17. In August, she was the first overall pick in the inaugural Women's Professional Lacrosse League draft.

Waters is a native of Darien, Conn., and was a member of the 2015-16 U.S. national team. A two-time academic All-ACC honoree, Waters graduated from UNC with a degree in Mass Media and Journalism, Advertising.

Stanford finished 12-6 in 2017 and concluded the season in the conference semifinals. The Cardinal returns its all-time career leader in points in 2018. Kelsey Murray has a 55-game point streak and her 225 career points will look to chip into NCAA record books. Murray also has 142 career goals – which places her third all-time in program history and needs only four to become Stanford's all-time leader.

The Cardinal opens the 2018 season at Denver on Feb. 10. The first home game is against Stony Brook on Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. The 2018 campaign also marks the inaugural season of Pac-12 play which begins on March 9 at Colorado.
