STANFORD, Calif. - Senior Janet Hu was named the Pac-12 Women's Swimming Scholar Athlete of the Year on Tuesday, as announced by the conference office.
As one of the most versatile swimmers in the nation, Hu is an 18-time All-American, eight-time Pac-12 champion and six-time national champion. She has won All-America honors in seven different events.
A 2017-18 team captain, she currently holds three American records, two NCAA records, six Stanford school records, and five Stanford pool records.
Last season, the Vienna, Virginia, native won the maximum seven All-America honors to lead Stanford to its first national title since 1998.
Outside of the pool, Hu is a computer science major with a focus in bio. A two-time Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention selection, she has maintained a 3.31 GPA at Stanford.
Hu is the third Cardinal to earn this honor, joining Kelsey Ditto in 2010-11 and Andrea Axtell in 2008-09.

In order to be eligible for the Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year award, student-athletes must be a senior (in athletics eligibility) on track to receive a degree, have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher, participate in at least 50 percent of the scheduled contests in the sport and have a minimum one year in residence at the institution.
