Five to France

STANFORD, Calif. – Three current and two future Cardinal were named to the United States U-20 team for an extended training camp in France from Feb. 23 – March 7, as announced Tuesday by head coach Jitka Klimkova.

The camp will serve as a test run for August's FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, and will feature two matches against France's U-20's, one of the top youth teams in Europe. The USA will play France on March 3 at the Stade de la Rabine in Vannes before a second matchup on March 6 at the Stade Marville in Saint-Malo.

Current Cardinal to make the roster include forward Civana Kuhlmann and defenders Kiki Pickett and Sam Hiatt. Recent signees Sophia Smith and Noami Girma were two of four players on the roster who are not yet enrolled in college.

Kuhlmann and Pickett helped the United States qualify for the U-20 World Cup through the CONCACAF U-20 Championships in January. Hiatt, who has captained the U-20's in the past, missed the CONCACAF championships after missing time during Stanford's 2017 national championship-winning season.

Smith and Girma were also part of the United States' U-20 team in January, each earning several starts in the competition.
