STANFORD, Calif. - Seniors Kelsey Murray and Allie DaCar led No. 18 Stanford lacrosse to a weekend sweep on the East Coast over the weekend, and swept the Pac-12 Player of the Week awards on Monday, as announced by the conference office.
Stanford is the first school to sweep the Pac-12 weekly awards. DaCar, the Defensive Player of the Week, and Murray, the Offensive Player of the Week, led the Cardinal to back-to-back victories over then-No. 16 Duke, 15-5, and Elon, 17-10.
Murray set three school records over the weekend. On Friday, she eclipsed the program record for career assists. On Saturday at Elon, she set the school record with 10 points and matched the program record with five assists. She scored five times, including a game-clincher that stopped a five-goal run from Elon and allowed Stanford to pull away for the win. She finished the week with five goals on seven shots for a .714 shooting percentage, and added eight assists for 13 points.
DaCar went 2-0 with a .571 save percentage. In all, she made 20 saves and allowed just 15 goals in more than 117 minutes. She allowed just four first-half goals as Stanford grabbed commanding 10-2 and 9-2 leads at intermission versus the Blue Devils and the Phoenix, respectively. On Friday, she made a season-high 12 saves and allowed just five goals (.706 save percentage) to propel Stanford to a 10-goal road victory over Duke. Two days later, she made eight more saves for a .444 save percentage in another decisive victory over Elon.
