STANFORD, Calif. - For the second straight night, Stanford softball surrendered a big inning and fell too far behind to catch No. 1 Washington. The Huskies clinched the series with a 10-0 win on Friday at Smith Family Stadium.
Junior Carolyn Lee worked two quick innings to start and retired the first two batters on two pitches in the third. However, Washington (34-2, 6-2 Pac-12) worked a walk and put together four straight hits to plate four.
The visitors added three more in the fourth, and three in the sixth.
Sophomore Teaghan Cowles extended her season-long hit streak to 13 games with a two-strike single to left in the sixth inning.
Sophomore Hannah Howell had Stanford's first hit when she drove when through the left side in the fourth inning. Howell also had the play of the day defensively with an outstretched catch in the sixth.
