STANFORD, Calif. – Junior right-handed pitcher Tristan Beck is the Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season, as announced Tuesday by the conference.
Beck, who hails from Corona, California, earned the win in No. 7 Stanford's two-hit, 7-0 shutout of Michigan on Friday night at Sunken Diamond. Needing 89 pitches, Beck completed 7.0 innings, allowing just three base runners (two hits, one walk) while striking out eight.
Austin Weiermiller and Daniel Bakst each pitched scoreless frames to help Stanford earn its first two-hitter since April 21, 2015. On the season, Beck (2-0) has pitched 18.0 innings, allowing 10 hits and four walks with 20 strikeouts and just three earned runs.
The Cardinal (11-1) started 10-0 for the first time since 1998, and travels to Austin, Texas, this week for a four-game series against Texas. All four contests will air on ESPN's Longhorn Network, and live statistics will be available at GoStanford.com.
