Cardinal Falls in Finale

STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford softball dropped the series finale to No. 1 Washington, 9-0, on Saturday at Smith Family Stadium. 

The Huskies scored two in the first, three in the fourth and a pair in the fifth and seventh to clinch the sweep. Stanford (20-13, 1-5 Pac-12) was held to two hits as sophomores Hannah Howell and Kristina Inouye each accounted for one. 

Howell singled through the left side in the sixth, and Inouye ripped one off the bag at third for a leadoff single in the seventh. She reached second on a fielder's choice, but the Huskies wrapped up the shut out with two straight outs. 

Washington (35-2, 7-2 Pac-12) scored all of its runs with two outs, including a three-run home run from Amirah Milloy in the third. 

Nikki Bauer started for the Cardinal and allowed two runs in 1.2 inning of work, and Kiana Pancino pitched the final 5.1 innings. 

After six games in eight days, the Cardinal gets a few days rest before hosting Fresno State on Tuesday at 6 p.m. PT. Stanford then heads to UCLA for a three-game set beginning on April 6.
