STANFORD, Calif. – Junior left-handed pitcher Kris Bubic was named to the Golden Spikes midseason watch list, as announced Tuesday by USA Baseball.
Bubic, who hails from San Jose, California, leads No. 2 Stanford's weekend rotation with a 1.94 earned-run average. Stanford has won each of Bubic's last 15 starts, a streak dating to April 14, 2017. In 41.2 innings pitched in 2018, Bubic (5-0) has 46 strikeouts while allowing 26 hits, 10 walks and a .181 batting average.
A member of the preseason Golden Spikes watch list and the 2017 Cape Cod League Pitcher of the Year, Bubic was recently named a midseason All-American by D1 Baseball. Clarke and Elizabeth Nelson Director of Baseball David Esquer was also named Midseason Coach of the Year.
The midseason watch list features 40 of the nation's top amateur players from the college ranks. The Golden Spikes Award Advisory Board will continue to maintain a rolling list of athletes, allowing players to play themselves into consideration for the award before announcing the semifinalists on May 21. The winner will be announced on June 28 in Los Angeles.
