Thirteen Named All-America

STANFORD, Calif. – Thirteen Stanford swimmers were named All-America, as announced recently by the Collegiate Swimming Coaches Association of America.

Abrahm DeVine and Andrew Liang led the Cardinal with five honors apiece. DeVine won the NCAA 400-yard individual medley, Stanford's first 400 IM champion since 1998 and first individual champion since David Nolan swam an American record in the 200-yard individual medley in 2015.

The Cardinal (7-0, 6-0 Pac-12) wrapped up postseason action with a seventh-place finish the NCAA Championships. Stanford finished second at the Pac-12 Championships.

Matt Anderson
Junior Matt Anderson earned All-America honors in the 400-yard medley relay (3:04.16) and 200-yard medley relay (1:23.72) for the third consecutive season. Anderson owns six All-America honors with two in each of his three trips to NCAA's.

Abrahm DeVine
Junior Abrahm DeVine became Stanford's first 400-yard individual medley champion in 20 years and first individual national champion since 2015 with a blistering 3:35.29 in the championship round, the second-fastest swim of all time in the event. DeVine added a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley (1:40.35) and eighth place in the 200-yard backstroke (1:41.99), and was part of Stanford's eighth place finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay (6:14.75) and 10th-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay. DeVine is a 12-time All-American, with eight of those coming as an individual.

Ryan Dudzinski
Junior Ryan Dudzinski claimed three All-America honors in 2018, including an individual honor in the 100-yard backstroke (46.25) with 16th place. Dudzinski also swam the backstroke leg of Stanford's sixth-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay (3:04.16) and 10th-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay (1:23.72). Dudzinski is an eight-time All-America, with three apiece in each of his past two seasons.

Liam Egan
Senior Liam Egan picked up three All-America honors, including a seventh-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (4:14.49). Egan added another individual honor with 16th place in the 1,650-yard freestyle (14:46.59) while helping the Cardinal finish eighth in the 800-yard freestyle relay (6:14.75). Egan wraps up his career as an eight-time All-American, including three in the 500 free.

Andrew Liang
Senior Andrew Liang earned five All-America honors, highlighted by sixth-place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:16.23) and 400-yard medley relay (3:04.16). Liang also helped Stanford finish 10th in the 200-yard medley relay (1:23.72) and 400-yard freestyle relay (2:49.80) while picking up an individual honor in the 100-yard butterfly with 11th place (45.29). Liang finishes his career with 12 All-America honors, 10 of which came in his junior and senior seasons.

Alberto Mestre
Freshman Alberto Mestre swam on both of Stanford's freestyle relays, helping the Cardinal finish sixth in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:16.23) and 10th in the 400-yard freestyle relay (2:49.80).

James Murphy
Sophomore James Murphy earned his first career All-America honor while helping the Cardinal finish eighth in the 800-yard freestyle relay (6:14.75).

Curtis Ogren
Senior Curtis Ogren capped his Cardinal career by picking up All-America honors in the 400-yard individual medley, finishing ninth (3:39.76). Ogren graduates with three All-America honors, all coming in the 400 IM.

Brennan Pastorek
Freshman Brennan Pastorek picked up an All-America honor in the 100-yard breaststroke with 13th place.

Sam Perry
Senior Sam Perry concluded his remarkable Stanford career with another four All-America honors. He helped the Cardinal finish sixth in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:16.23) and 400-yard medley relay (3:04.16), and 10th in the 200-yard medley relay (1:23.72) and the 400-yard freestyle relay (2:49.80). Perry graduates as one of Stanford's most decorated sprinters with 18 All-America honors to his name, by far the most of any Cardinal on the current roster.

Grant Shoults
Sophomore Grant Shoults backed up his freshman year with another strong performance at NCAA's, highlighted by his second consecutive fourth-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle relay (4:10.02). Shoults also picked up All-America honors with 14th place in the 1,650-yard freestyle (14:45.22) and eighth place in the 800-yard freestyle relay (6:14.75). Shoults matched his haul from 2017, giving him six All-America honors in his two-year career.

True Sweetser
Sophomore True Sweetser earned All-America honors in the 1,650-yard freestyle (14:40.48) for the second straight year, finishing eighth. Sweetser is a three-time All-American with two honors in the mile in as many seasons.

Brad Zdroik
Junior Brad Zdroik earned All-America honors by helping Stanford finish sixth in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:16.23). It was the first All-America honor for Zdroik.
