Gordon Is Pac-12's Best

STANFORD, Calif. - Freshman Michaela Gordon has been named Pac-12 Player of the Week for March 26-April 2, as announced Tuesday by the conference office.

Gordon went undefeated in three matches last week, surrendering 11 games combined over six sets. Ranked No. 16 nationally, Gordon provided her second clincher of the season in Stanford's 7-0 win over UC Santa Barbara on March 28 and improved to 6-3 against nationally-ranked opponents with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over No. 56 Lauryn John-Baptiste of Arizona State two days later.

Gordon, who has played all of her matches at the No. 1 spot, is 19-5 overall and 10-4 in duals, tied for the team lead in both categories. Gordon is also 9-0 against Pac-12 opponents and has defeated a pair of top-10 foes this season.

In doubles, Gordon and sophomore Emily Arbuthnott are ranked No. 3 in the country at 14-3 overall and 6-2 in duals.

It is the 20th weekly all-time honor for Stanford.

No. 23 Stanford (11-3, 5-0 Pac-12) hosts No. 26 Oregon on Sunday, March 8, at 11 a.m. in its only match this week. The Cardinal has won seven in a row.
