Jasper Earns National Honor

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford freshman Jaylen Jasper has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA National Player of the Week, the organization announced today.

Jasper, a native of Annapolis, Maryland, averaged 5.11 kills, 0.89 aces and 6.22 points per set as Stanford defeated No. 13 Grand Canyon and No. 14 Concordia last week. The opposite matched his career-highs in kills (27) and aces (4) against the Lopes, hitting .409, and finished one dig shy of a double-double. He followed up with 19 kills, four more aces and seven digs in four sets versus the Eagles.

This is the 18th time in program history a Cardinal has garnered Sports Imports/AVCA Player of the Week honors, with the most recent from James Shaw on April 5, 2016. Jasper was also named the MPSF Offensive Player of the Week and the VolleyMob Player of the Week for his efforts last week.

Stanford completes the regular season on the road this week, taking on No. 5 UCLA on Thursday and No. 4 Pepperdine on Saturday.
