NAPA, Calif. - There's something special about the second round of the Silverado Showdown for the Stanford women's golf team.

In 2017, the Cardinal posted a school-record 12-under par in the second round while all five players broke par for the first time in program history.

One year later, Stanford signed off on a 7-under -- its second-best 18-hole round on the season -- with four of five players shooting even-par or better on Monday.

The efforts helped the Cardinal jump four spots into first place among the 17-team field at Silverado Resort at Spa. The two-time defending tournament champions followed its opening-round 294 with a 281 on the par-72 track playing at 6,202 yards.

Stanford holds a two-shot lead over second-place USC heading to Tuesday's final round. Live results will be available at GoStanford.com.

Mika Liu, tied for first among individuals, was 3-under through 10 holes and finished with a 2-under 70. Her score was matched by Albane Valenzuela, who was even through 13 before consecutive birdies on Nos. 14-15.

Andrea Lee played a huge role in Stanford's advancement with a bogey-free 3-under. Lee is tied for ninth at 1-under.

Ziyi Wang carded a team-best five birdies during her even-par round.
