Two Tabbed All-Region

STANFORD, Calif. – Sophomores Teaghan Cowles and Hannah Howell earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-West Region honors, the organization announced Thursday.

Cowles and Howell were selected to the third team at third base and outfield, respectively. It is the first career honor for the pair.

Howell, who hails from Corona, California,  led the team with a .331 batting average, while Cowles was second at .326. The duo tied for the team lead with 58 hits apiece. They were two of just three Cardinal players to start all 55 games this season.

Cowles paced the team with 32 runs scored, six triples and 18 stolen bases. The Ridgefield, Washington native's six triples were tied for the second-most in a single season in program history. She now has 10 triples for her career, placing her tied for fourth all-time at Stanford.

Cowles' 18 stolen bases tied for the ninth-best mark in a single season in school history and was fourth in the Pac-12 during the regular season. She began the year a perfect 18-for-18 in thefts, the best start to a season for the Cardinal since 2011.

Stanford finished the season with a 24-31 overall record and a 3-21 mark in the Pac-12. It was the most overall and conference wins for the Cardinal since 2014.
